Multiple Fires Reported In The Columbus Area

(Columbus) There were multiple fires reported in the Columbus area Wednesday. Two of them occurred on Sydo Road and Kranz Road. Columbus Fire Chief Deputy Jerrod Fox tells Daily Dodge that both incidents started due to residents conducting burns on their own property.

The Sydo Road fire was extinguished shortly before 3pm. Roughly seven acres were impacted, and the blaze started due to discarded ashes from a wood burner.

At Kranz Road, Fox says approximately 60 hay bales caught fire but notes that no buildings were impacted by flames. That blaze was contained by around 3pm. Around 20 acres were impacted and the fire started due to burning ditch lines.

Meanwhile, crews responded to Highway BB and 16/60 for a five-alarm fire. At last word approximately 220 acres were burned. Firefighters had the blaze contained around 4pm. It is not yet known what caused the fire.โ€ฏ
