MPTC Making Progress On Referendum Construction

(Beaver Dam) Moraine Park Technical College passed a $55-million-dollar referendum in November 2022 that gave the college the opportunity to expand. The first phase included the addition of a fire training facility providing students with hands on training featuring live fire conditions, burning with props, and controlled fire situations for a lower risk training experience.

The second phase provided the West Bend Campus with a manufacturing, automation, and robotics lab. Vice President of Teaching and Learning Doug Hamm says the project is now in its third phase.

โ€œ[We are] adding 40,000 square feet to our West Bend facility again in that air center mentality,โ€ says Hamm. โ€œWeโ€™re actually calling it ARM in West Bend. Thatโ€™s Automation, Arm, Robotics and Manufacturing. So, weโ€™re doing much the same as we did in Fon du Lac in West Bend, and that will be wrapping up sometime in late spring.โ€

Hamm says open house for phase three is scheduled for next September. He adds there is a fourth and final phase at the Fon du Lac campus.

โ€œWeโ€™re adding on to our healthcare wing, Hamm says. โ€œWe call it the E wing, where weโ€™re going to be adding 19,000 square feet onto the building, and itโ€™s going to have brand new nursing simulations, surgical assistants, medical, respiratory therapy.โ€

Hamm says the expansion will greatly benefit all the healthcare programs the college offers.
