(Montello) A Montello woman has been formally charged in Marquette County court in connection with a fatal house fire. Frances Rittmann is facing one count of First-Degree Intentional Homicide and two counts of Arson of Building. Prosecutors says the 42-year-old admitted to investigators that she started the fire at her ex-boyfriends Montello home on the afternoon of April 20. Forty-three-year-old Daniel Gilmartin perished in the blaze, his body was badly burned. Medical examiners used DNA evidence to confirm the identity. Rittmann reportedly told investigators that she knew Gilmartin was sleeping and started the fire with the intention of killing both of them. She changed her mind and allegedly left the residence without getting help. An initial appearance on Monday was delayed until Tuesday morning at which time bond will be set.
