Midnight Tribute Honors Fallen Officers in Watertown

(WATERTOWN) People in Watertown will pause just before midnight Wednesday to remember law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

The Watertown Police Department is inviting the community to gather outside City Hall at 11:55 p.m. on May 13 for a quiet tribute tied to National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Day. As the clock nears midnight, Officer Nora Achilli will perform โ€œAmazing Graceโ€ on the bagpipes.

The ceremony is part of a broader โ€œMidnight Piperโ€ tradition held at departments across Wisconsin, where pipers play in unison to honor fallen officers.

Watertown police say the moment is meant to bring people together in reflection and gratitude โ€” a simple but powerful way to recognize lives lost and the service behind the badge.
