Church Health Services Secures $7,500 Giving 100 Grant

(BEAVER DAM) Students in Beaver Dam schools, and now Waupun, will get mental health counseling this summer thanks to a $7,500 grant from the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundationโ€™s โ€œGiving 100โ€ย group. Church Health Services got the most votesย fromย the groupย at an event Tuesday evening at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre. Other presenters were Playground Movement and theย Dodge County Pregnancy Support Center.

Church Health Services Executive Director Mary Vogl-Rauscher says the gift will ensure that mental health services planned for area youth will come to fruition. That includes take-home kits designed by Church Health Services counselors.

“It has coping skills, grounding techniques, it has different ways that they can ask for help instead of just acting through behaviors. Those are some of the kits that can get sent home with them, and we teach it in the session as well,” said Church Health Services counselor Justyce Wandersee.

This will be the first time Churchย Healthย Services will offer counseling in Waupun schools.

The Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation Giving 100 is a collective giving program. Up to 100 members each contribute $100 per quarter, and the pooled money is awarded as a grant to a local nonprofit or community project.ย
