Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgery Now Offered At Center For Eye Care In Watertown

(Watertown) The Center for Eye Care in Watertown is now offering Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), providing patients with a less invasive surgical option for managing glaucoma without needing to travel far thanks to Dr. Susie Drake.

Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide and is often linked to elevated eye pressure that can cause a progressive loss of peripheral vision. Traditional methods for glaucoma treatment include the use of eye drops or laser therapy to lower eye pressure. When these non-surgical treatments are no longer sufficient, patients typically require invasive glaucoma surgery.

The introduction of MIGS offers an intermediate, less invasive option, bridging the gap between non-surgical treatments and more complex surgical interventions. Dr. Drake is excited to offer this advanced treatment to patients and has already completed her first cases.

The Center for Eye Care is a comprehensive eye care clinic, located at 123 Hospital Drive in the Medical Office Building attached to Watertown Regional Medical Center. Their goal is to provide local access to medical, surgical, and technological solutions for all eye care needs.
