(Watertown) The Madison College Nursing Program will be staying at their Watertown campus with plans to expand. Last July, the Madison Area Technical College announced that the program would end in Watertown and be replaced with a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program. Under their proposal, the program would be moved entirely to Fort Atkinson. Representative John Jagler meet with Dr. Jack Daniels and Madison Area Technical College Vice President Tim Casper to discuss the decision this week. The Watertown native says the original decision did not consider that the Watertown Regional Medical Center does not employ LPN’s. Jagler says that Daniels and the college determined to keep the program in Watertown, reserving their decision and moving the entire two year program to the Watertown campus. He says this will open the door to enhancing the pipeline of talent from Watertown High School through the Certified Nursing Assistant Program available to students.
