Laconia & Hartford Heading To State Girls Basketball Tournament

A pair of area girls basketball teams are in Madison for the WIAA State Basketball Tournament.    

On Thursday, defending Division Four champ Laconia (26-2) drew the #1 seed and will face #4 seed The Prairie School (25-3) on Thursday night at 6:35pm in a state semifinal.  The Spartans knocked off The Prairie School 72-53 over the Thanksgiving Holiday at Kettle Moraine.    The winner faces either Cuba City or McDonnel Catholic on Saturday in the D4 State Championship Game.

On Friday night, Hartford (26-2) faces Neenah (23-5) in a WIAA Division One State Semifinal.   The Orioles are making their 7th appearance at state, and their first appearance since the 2000.  Neenah is making their 8th appearance at state and their first since 2009.  The Rockets are led by senior Allie Ziebell, who has committed to play NCAA Division One College Basketball at power UConn.  Friday night’s game tips right around 8:15pm.
