John Moser and Bill McCollum Inducted To Wisconsin Broadcasters Association As ‘Local Legends’

(Beaver Dam) Two longtime and beloved personalities at WBEV AM1430 were recognized by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association on Thursday. Bill McCollum and the late John Moser were inducted as 2020 WBA Local Broadcast Legends. The award was established in 2015 as a way to honor individuals who work behind the scenes, exemplify localism and fulfill the commitment broadcasters have to serve their communities.

“Uncle Bill” has been with the Beaver Dam station for 58 years, spending most of that time hosting the WBEV Morning Show and, to this very day, the renowned local polka hour known far and wide as the Barn Show.

John passed away in January, two weeks after retiring. In his 47 years at the radio station, John served as news director, program director, sales manager and as general manager.

This is the first time that the WBA has honored two people from the same market at the same time. Three other broadcasters were recognized Thursday alongside John and Bill: Karen Dalessandro, Erin Davisson and the late Peter Murphy.
