God gained a feisty, go getter of an angel when Janice Schmidt, 67, of Beaver Dam, WI, passed December 26, 2020 at Hillside Manor. She was there recovering from brain surgery she had on December 8, 2020.
Janice was born October 6, 1953, daughter of Elton and Rachel (Hundley) Ott. Janice graduated from Dodgeland High School and then married the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Schmidt, on January 15, 1977. They loved to travel together and always were there to help others in any way they could.
Janice and Jerry built their life around their two sons, Justin and Jayson, welcoming their friends as family. Janice loved to cook and would feed anyone who came to their door.
Janice was employed by the UW Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 2008. Since retirement, you could find her doing what she loved most; camping, playing bingo, going to garage sales, and being with family. She loved to keep busy and she was always busy!
Survivors include her sons, Justin (Christiana) and their children, Kelly and Katelynn, Jayson; brothers, John (Susan), Edward (Karen) and Stanley Ott; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Wally Spencer, Jeannee and David Schmidt, Rita Schmidt, and Norman Schmidt; special friend, Charlie Wright; many other nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her parents, her sister Rachel Jean Gradel-Marks; brother, Dennis Ott; and brother-in-law, Richard Schmidt.
The visitation will be at Chapel of the Archangels in Beaver Dam, on Saturday, January 2, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Ed Cody officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Michael Cemetery in Beaver Dam at a later date.
