Hustisford Looks to Grow With 33 New Homes in the Heart of the Village

(HUSTISFORD) People looking for a place to settle down in Hustisford may soon have more options — and village leaders say that growth is exactly what the community needs right now.

Village President Joshua Prescher says a new 33-home development will soon break ground in the center of town, a project he believes will help strengthen the village’s housing market and bring new energy to a community that has held steady at about 1,200 people for years.

The development, called Island View Estates, will feature 33 single-family homes built by Next Generation. The homes will be constructed on an undeveloped parcel across from the Hustisford Public Library — a location Prescher describes as right in the heart of the village.

Groundbreaking is expected this spring, with the first home starting soon. Prescher said he expects the rest to follow quickly.

“These are really nice starter homes,” Prescher said, noting they are designed with young families in mind and fit well with the character of the community.

Housing has become a common concern for communities across Dodge County. Prescher said Hustisford is no different. While he describes the village’s current housing stock as “pretty fair,” with a mix of rentals, multi-family units and a large share of single-family homes, he said growth is an important next step.

“We can always have more people coming in,” he said, adding that expanding housing options is key to keeping the community vibrant.

The housing development sits near Sinissippi Lake, with driving times of about 35 minutes to West Bend, 40 minutes to Menomonee Falls and 50 minutes to downtown Milwaukee.

Prescher said that balance — quiet community life with access to nearby cities — is part of Hustisford’s appeal.

“If somebody was looking for a place to come and find a nice bedroom community, this is a really wonderful place to have a family,” he said.
