Horicon Man Found Guilty In 2022 Fatal Crash That Killed Pregnant Mother And Her Son

(Washington County) A Horicon man was sentenced to three years in prison for causing a crash that killed a pregnant woman and her one-year-old son in Washington County. Steven Bruskiewicz Jr. was found guilty of multiple felonies including Homicide by Negligent Operation of a Vehicle.  

An investigation into the June 2022 crash showed that Bruskiewicz was engaged in using social media on his phone while driving on Highway 164 and Elmwood Road in Richfield. The 33-year-oldโ€™s vehicle then struck another car from behind, which pushed it into oncoming traffic where it struck by a third vehicle.  

The second impacted vehicle was operated by 30-year-old Casey Lynn Schwartz of Mayville who was killed along with her one-year-old son and her unborn child.  

The driver of the third vehicle, a Waukesha man, was also injured in the collision. At sentencing, Bruskiewicz said that this was without a doubt the most regrettable moment in his life.
