Highway Reopens After Early-Morning Crash That Seriously Injured Watertown Driver

(LOWELL) Drivers heading through the Town of Lowell faced delays Monday morning after a crash on State Highway 16/60 sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies say it happened just after 6:30 a.m., when a Subaru Outback crossed the center line and hit a Ford F-550 coming the other way. The truck was towing a trailer loaded with a mini excavator at the time.

The Subaruโ€™s driver โ€” a man from Watertown โ€” was flown to Froedtert Hospital. The pickup driver, from Fond du Lac, was taken to Marshfield Medical Centerโ€“Beaver Dam with minor injuries.

The highway was shut down for several hours while emergency crews responded, but it has since reopened.

Teams from multiple agencies โ€” including paramedics from Beaver Dam and Watertown, CLR Fire, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team โ€” worked the scene.

Investigators are still piecing together what caused the Subaru to cross the center line.

This crash remains under investigation.
