(Iron Ridge) One person was killed in a vehicle crash during a pursuit with Dodge County authorities.
Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reportedly being operated by an impaired driver just before 6pm Sunday. The suspect fled south on Highway 67 near Highway 33 in excess of 100 miles per hour. The vehicle then headed west on County Road S, continued north to Horseshoe Road at a high rate of speed, and failed to negotiate a curve. Authorities say the vehicle left the roadway, went in to a ditch, and struck a tree.
Immediate aid was rendered but the sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as a 27-year-old Hartford man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to assist with the safe removal of an older military style grenade, or facsimile found in the vehicle.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office with the crash investigation.
