Golden Beaver Boys Advance To Regional Final

The Beaver Dam High School boys basketball team defeated DeForest 70-55 in a WIAA Division 2 Regional Semifinal Friday night at the BDHS Fieldhouse.

The Golden Beavers led 29-21 at halftime but struggled early to create separation from the Norskies. DeForest stayed within striking distance until Ben Wittnebel caught fire midway through the second half, knocking down three straight three-pointers in a span of 1:15 to extend the lead to 47-31. Beaver Dam never looked back from there.

Wittnebel led the Golden Beavers with 20 points. EJ Salettel added 17, Parker Blanke finished with 13, and Isaiah Yuenger contributed 10. Brooks Ohmen paced DeForest (12-14) with a game-high 21 points, while Jayden Doedens added 11.

Salettel also etched his name into the record books. A late free throw tied Nate Abel (Class of 2021) as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,469 career points.

Beaver Dam (19-6) now advances to host defending Division 2 state champion Wauwatosa West (19-6) Saturday night in a Regional Final. The Trojans advanced with a 72-68 win over Milwaukee Lutheran.
