(Pacific) The use of a ceramic heater caused a fire in the town of Pacific over the weekend. The Portage Fire Department was dispatched to N6776 Fox Court Saturday morning for a report of a garage fire.
Upon arrival, crews found a two-story single-family residential structure with smoke showing from around the garage door. Fire Chief Troy Haase says his department requested a working still which included a response from Pardeeville, Arlington, Merrimac, and the Endeavor Fire Departments. He says firefighters entered with a hose line and encountered moderate black smoke.
The blaze was quickly extinguished before it spread throughout the structure. The fire was confined to a small area involving a ceramic heater and mechanics tools. Haase notes that the quick response from the paid-on-call and fulltime personnel limited the damage to the garage.
He adds that Portage EMS responded to the scene to monitor fire crews and residents throughout the event. No injuries were reported.
