5/21/17 – Residents in the city of Fox Lake could soon have a new waste collection provider. The Fox Lake City Council will decide the city’s garbage disposal provider next month. The city is contracting with Advanced Disposal through the end of May. Fox Lake has a bid by Waste Management for two different options. The first is a weekly pickup of both garbage and recycling costing $14.71 per household. The second option is a weekly collection of garbage and bi-monthly pick-up for recycling which would cost $12.46. The bid also includes an annual bulk waste pick up at no cost. Right now, Fox Lake households pay $13.63 for weekly garbage pickup and bi-monthly recycling. If Fox Lake decides to continue with Advanced Disposal their new contract proposal would go down to $11.54 for the same service. The council will vote on the waste contract at their June 7th meeting.
