(BEAVER DAM) The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has named four Beaver Dam Unified School District elementary schools as Wisconsin Schools of Recognition, whic highlights student achievement, growth, and closing opportunity gaps.
The following schools earned recognition in their respective categories:
โข Washington Elementary โ High Achieving
โข Jefferson Elementary โ High Impactย ย
โข Lincoln Elementary โ High Impact
โข Wilson Elementary โ High Impact (recognized in its final year of service)
BDUSD Superintendent Mark DiStefano said earning this distinction is a significant accomplishment for any school. Having four elementary schools within the same district receive recognition in a single year is truly remarkable and reflects a systemwide commitment to excellence.
Wisconsin Schools of Recognition are identified based on a rigorous set of criteria, including academic performance, measurable student growth, and progress in reducing achievement gaps.
โThis is an incredible point of pride for our entire community,โ said DiStefano. โTo see four of our elementary schools recognized at this level speaks to the consistency and strength of our system. This honor reflects not only the outstanding dedication of our educators and staff, but also the hard work of our students and the great partnerships we have with families and our community. When schools, families, and communities are aligned, students thrive, and this recognition is proof of that.โ
DiStefano said each of the recognized schools has demonstrated a sustained commitment to high-quality instruction, data-informed practices, and a relentless focus on meeting the needs of every learner. The High Achieving distinction highlights consistently strong academic performance, and the High Impact category recognizes schools making significant progress in closing achievement gaps and accelerating growth for students.
Wilson Elementaryโs recognition aligns with its final year of service, which DiStefano said is a lasting testament to the legacy of excellence established by its staff and students.
โThese recognitions donโt happen by chance,โ DiStefano added. โThey are the result of intentional work, strong systems, and people who care deeply about kids. We are grateful for our staff, proud of our students, and thankful for a community that continues to support our schools at such a high level.โ
