Fond Du Lac Man Sentenced For Seventh OWI Offense

(Beaver Dam) A Fond du Lac man was sentenced to four years in prison for fleeing Dodge County deputies while under the influence. Wayne Bagneski entered a plea of no contest to a Seventh OWI offense charge and guilty to felony Eluding.

A deputy ran plates on a vehicle in the town of Beaver Dam in November and found that the registered owner had a revoked license. After the deputy activated their emergency lights, the suspect vehicle accelerated away.

The pursuit lasted approximately 1.7-miles and ended when the driver exited the vehicle on Kellom Road. The suspect, identified as Bagneski, fled on foot for a short distance before being taken into custody. Bagneski said he ran because he thought he had a warrant.

During questioning, authorities reportedly noted bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Following field sobriety tests, Bagneski was arrested for OWI. The 52-year-old has OWI convictions dating back to 2001 and as recent as 2010.

Bagneski was also placed on extended supervision for five years.
