(Fond du Lac County) Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel delivered his county budget message to supervisors Tuesday night. The 2019 document will require a tax levy of over $44-million an increase of $711-thousand dollars. Buechel notes that, over the past four years, the interest they have earned from investments in the state investment pool have grown and they will be able to use about $1-million in interest for the budget so county employees can receive a two-percent raise next year. He also notes that the Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center this year and next year required no levy support so that saves them about $300-thousand dollar annually that they can use elsewhere in the budget. Despite the higher tax levy, the tax rate will be lower at $5.93 per thousand dollars of value on a property or 14-cents lower than for 2018. The Fond du Lac County Board is expected to approve the budget at their November 8th meeting.
