First Badger Honor Flight Of The Year

4/22/17 – The public is encouraged to head to Madison tonight to greet veterans returning from a day in Washington D.C.  Madison-based Badger Honor Flight has its first flight of the 2017 season today.  A plane with 88 veterans left the Dane County Airport this morning. Once the flight lands, the veterans will spend the day touring various sites including Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Iwo Jima, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, and Air Force monuments.  Upon returning to Madison, Organizer Jim Bublitz says the veterans are greeted by a crowd of family, friends, and complete strangers who are there to meet and thank them for their service.  Bublitz encourages the public to arrive at the airport around 8pm tonight and says the flight should land around 9:15 pm.  Today’s flight includes two veterans from Beaver Dam and one from Waupun. The other flight dates in 2016 are May 13, September 16, and October 10. The September flight will have a special emphasis on Dodge County-area veterans with 25-to-30 local vets slated for that trip.
