Few Issues Reported In Dodge County During Spring Election

(Juneau) Dodge County Clerk Karen Gibson says there were relatively few issues with Tuesday’s election. She noted that of the few errors that did occur, they were human in nature such as a wrong ballot being handed out.

Gibson says she does not condone it but it does happen, adding that the voting machines were not the ones making any mistakes.

Gibson notes that the reported issues were limited to just a small number of municipalities and was not widespread.

Voter turnout for the spring election was at 23-percent.

There is a new mayor in Horicon. Josh Maas was the only name on the ballot and garnered 346 votes, just about 97-percent of the total number of votes cast. There were 11 write-in votes. Maas replaces incumbent Jim Grigg who was re-elected as mayor in 2018. Other communities with new mayors include John Guinn in Mayville and Rohn Bishop in Waupun.

Meanwhile, school district funding referendums in Rosendale-Brandon and Oakfield had mixed success with voters Tuesday. Residents in Rosendale-Brandon were asked to approve $29.7-million-dollars for school improvements and upgrades, but voted it down. District voters in Oakfield approved borrowing up to $16-million for facility improvements.
