FDL Police Stress Suicide Support After Weekend Incident

(Fond du Lac) The Fond du Lac Police Department is stressing suicide prevention resources and mental health crises lines after a weekend incident. Authorities were notified that a woman appeared to be in the process of jumping off the Johnson Street overpass bridge just after midnight Sunday.

An officer approached the 19-year-old, who was described as โ€œdistraught,โ€ and found her hanging by her arms off the south side of the bridge. Police attempted to hold onto the teen, but she ended up falling and landed on a grassy area below. Law enforcement say the woman was located conscious and alert.

She was transported by first responders to a local hospital with what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say if you are in imminent danger or experiencing a medical emergency call 911, but if you are having thoughts of suicide or self-harm contact your local crises line.

To reach Dodge County’s crises lines call 920-386-4094 or 888-552-6642 after hours.
