(MADISON) Gov. Tony Evers is directing Wisconsin’s chief medical officer to issue a standing order requiring this year’s COVID-19 vaccines to be available at local pharmacies. The order issued Monday also directs the state’s insurance commissioner and the pharmacy examining board to remove barriers to vaccine access.
Other states led by Democratic governors are doing the same thing.
Last month, the federal Department of Health and Human Services imposed sweeping new restrictions on who qualifies for a COVID 19 shot. A doctor’s prescription is required in many cases.
Evers said HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s campaign against vaccines is “dangerous and reckless.”
