DODGE COUNTY – Dodge County taxpayers are being reminded to review their 2026 property assessments before tax bills are calculated later this year.
According to Dodge County Treasurer Kris Keith, local assessors are completing their 2026 assessment work and finalizing the property values that will be used to calculate 2026 tax bills.
Keith says taxpayers who disagreed with their 2025 tax bill should discuss their concerns with their assessor now. She notes that after a taxpayer receives a 2026 tax bill, it is too late to appeal the assessment. The Treasurer’s Office cannot change assessments or tax bills.
If a property assessment changed from last year, the assessor mails a Notice of Changed Assessment. The notice includes details about why the assessment changed, how much it changed, and the dates and times for Open Book and Board of Review meetings.
Open Book is a formal time for taxpayers to meet with the assessor about their assessment and learn about the formal appeal process through the Board of Review.
Keith says any taxpayer can attend Open Book and Board of Review, even if they did not receive a Notice of Changed Assessment. Taxpayers can also contact their assessor with assessment concerns or questions at any time of year.
