(Juneau) The public has an opportunity to get an inside look at local law enforcement. The Dodge County Sheriff Office is holding its fifth annual Citizens Academy this fall. A number of topics will be covered in the 15-week course including: OWI enforcement, crash investigation, criminal investigation, and firearm’s training. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the program is meant to give community members the opportunity to learn about the daily operations of the department while also providing an opportunity to meet and interact with the employees of the sheriff’s office. Classes run from 6pm to 9pm each Wednesday from September 11 through December 18. Applications are on the sheriff’s office website and the deadline is July 10. People must be 18 years or older and pass a background check.
Applications can be found on the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office website www.dodgecountysheriff.com or more information on the program can be obtained by contacting Lieutenant Weinfurter at rweinfurter@co.dodge.wi.us.
