(Juneau) This week is Lottery Credit Awareness Week and Dodge County Treasurer Patti Hilker is using the occasion to remind citizens of the savings they have had on their real estate tax bills. To qualify for the Lottery and Gaming Credit, a property owner must be a Wisconsin resident and use the dwelling as their primary residence as of January 1 in a given year. A property owner can only claim one primary residence and rental properties are not eligible. Hilker says the credit is based on the school district in which your home is located. Last year, the lottery credit in Dodge County averaged $165.
In order to receive the credit, owners must have a signed application form on file with the county treasurer. If an eligible property owner did not receive the credit on their 2018 tax bill, the Treasurerโs office can assist in filing the 2018 late claim form with the Department of Revenue. Those who are not a resident of a property as of January 1 of 2018 but were as of January 1 of 2019, can contact the Treasurerโs Office to assist in completing a Lottery and Gaming Application to ensure that the credit will be applied to your 2019 property tax bill.
Those with questions can contact the Dodge County Treasurerโs Office at 920-386-3782 or email the Office at treasurer@co.dodge.wi.us. Lottery and Gaming Credit applications and instructions can be obtained at www.revenue.wi.gov/Pages/Form/lottery-home.aspx
