Dodge County Board Keeps Leadership, Eyes Big Projects Ahead

(JUNEAU) Dodge County leaders say the next few years could shape how people pay for roads, buildings and public safety — and who leads that work isn’t changing.

The county board on Tuesday kept its top leadership in place after the spring election, unanimously choosing Dave Frohling for a third straight term as board chairman. Andrew Johnson will continue as first vice chair, and David Beal was selected again as second vice chair.

The meeting marked the first gathering of the full board since the election, with new and returning members sworn in before leadership votes were held.

Frohling said the continuity comes at a time when the county is facing long-term decisions that could affect taxes and infrastructure for years.

“I thank the committee, the board for its confidence in my leadership,” Frohling said. “I’m looking forward to the big projects that we’re going to have to do in the next couple of years — the next 10 years probably.”

He pointed to early work already underway, including upgrades to radio towers, a broader facilities master plan, and ongoing questions about highway funding.

Frohling said the challenge will be balancing those needs while trying to ease the impact on taxpayers.

“We will put together the phasing in to actually try to limit the tax burden going forward,” he said.

He also said organizing the board quickly will be a priority, with committee assignments expected soon so members can get to work ahead of upcoming meetings.

Joining Frohling, Johnson, and Beal on the county’s executive committee are Paul Conway, Jenifer Hedrick, Jody Steger, and Karen Kuehl.
