(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing the women of their agency. Monday was National Police Woman Day which celebrates the contribution of women to the law enforcement and public safety career field.
Just 10-percent of law enforcement nationwide are made up of women. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says in Dodge County, they are fortunate and proud of the contributions that the women of their department have had. There are five sworn law enforcement officers in the sheriff’s office including Detectives Vickie Brugger and Kelsey Becker as well as Deputies Jamie Buelter, Kendall Kaatz, and Kelly Cotter.
Schmidt acknowledged Brugger’s (quote) “fantastic” 27-year career and her efforts in major homicide, burglary, and human trafficking cases.
Buelter is a 24-year veteran of the agency and has worked in the county’s drug task force and is a field-training officer.
Cotter started as a patrol deputy 19-years ago, transferring to court security in 2007 and is the longest tenured member of the security team.
In Becker’s eight-year career, she served first as a patrol deputy before being promoted to detective in March of 2020.
Kaatz joined the Dodge County Sheriff’s from Dane County last August.
The sheriff says each one, and all the other women in other various divisions throughout the sheriff’s office, do great work and he is proud to salute them.
