(Fond du Lac County) A portion of Interstate 41 was closed for nearly 8 hours yesterday (Tuesday) near Church Road in the Township of Byron. The Fond du Lac Communications center received multiple calls reporting a power pole on fire. Officers arrived and located a damaged power pole snapped in half and actively on fire causing multiple live electric wires to hang down over I41. Crews from We Energies worked into the night to replace the damaged pole.
Assisting on the scene was Eden Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Lomira Police Department, Wisconsin DNR, and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department.
