(Columbus) The Columbus City Council recently discussed the future of 1400 Park Avenue, more commonly known as the Dingee Farm property. At a previous council meeting, the council voted not to sell the property with Mayor Joe Hammer breaking the tie by voting no.
He said his decision came from speaking to citizens that had different viewpoints on what to do with the property and information he gathered from attending various conferences. However, after a recent development team meeting, City Administrator Lisa Wilson says the house on the property may not be salvageable.
โI just want everybody to keep that in mind as we move forward,โ says Wilson. โI mean, maybe thereโs an option, but if you look at how access should come into the property to align with whatโs across the street, the house is in a very peculiar spot to try to save it.โ
Alder Ian Gray suggested the house be physically relocated.
โWe could sell it for a dollar to someone whoโs willing to salvage it and relocate it,โ says Gray. โLike, it could be something of that nature.โย ย ย ย ย ย ย
Gray says it happens more often than people think. The next step was to determine when the Request for Proposal for the property would be sent out to developers. Alder Adam Steiner suggested late January to early February.
โYou wanna get in front of people before their season starts and they start to actually get busy,โ says Steiner. โAs far as moving the house, we can put it up for listing right away and have a timeline with which they can do it.โ
The common council agreed to table their decision on when to send out RFPs to developers until their January 9th meeting.
