(Neosho) A Columbus man accused of robbing a bank is heading to trial. Probable cause was found Thursday against Alan Schade who is charged with a felony count of Robbery of a Financial Institution and four charges of Bail Jumping.
Schade allegedly entered Horicon Bank in Neosho just after 3pm on January 26th and handed the teller a note that said, “put everything in the bag and no one will get hurt.” The teller’s included bait money with documented serial numbers.
According to the criminal complaint, Schade’s vehicle was captured on video surveillance and it was fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system. This helped authorities locate the vehicle in a driveway on a property in Waterloo. Schade was arrested and the bait money was allegedly recovered.
The 43-year-old was wearing a GPS ankle monitor due to a bond condition in a Waukesha County case. The GPS data reportedly captured Schade at the Neosho bank at the time of the robbery. It also allegedly placed him at a bank in Ixonia two days earlier that was also robbed. The complaint did not indicate how much money was taken in either incident.
If convicted, Schade faces up to 58 years in prison. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for March 16th.
