(MAYVILLE) Radon gas poisoning is the second-leading cause of lung cancer, and homes in the Dodge County area are prone to high levels. The Mayville library is using some money in its budget to buy radon detectors that residents can check out for free.
โWe have a high level of radon in our area,โ Mayor Rob Boelk told Daily Dodge. โI tested my house a few years ago, and itโs supposed to be under four (picocuries per liter); mine was at 44.โ
All you need is a Mayville Library card. You can keep the detector for a week. Radon test kits are also inexpensive to buy, and theyโre widely available at hardware stores and municipal or county health departments.
