(Beaver Dam) WBEV brought home 19 awards, including a half-dozen first place trophies, this weekend at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association annual banquet in Madison. Brenda Murphyโs Idea Exchange was named the โBest Radio Showโ in Wisconsin in a small market. The Childrenโs Radiothon was also singled out for having a โSignificant Community Impactโ after raising over $100-thousand dollars last year. The News Department took home the trophy for โBest News Writing,โ in addition to โBest Spot Newsโ for updates on the two separate fires at the Lakecrest Apartments last year and also for having the โBest Continuous Coverageโ of an ongoing story for reports on the Didion Milling Explosion. And finally, last but not least, a duo introduced as the โperineal favorites of the Wisconsin Broadcasterโs Association,โ in the category for โBest Client-Recorded Commercial,โ the Signing Eye Doctors of Vita Park Eye Associates โ Dr. Jay Wilkins and Dr. Tom Castillo โ took home the top prize for their annual Christmas Carol Public Service Announcement. The Signing Eye Doctors of Vita Park Eye Associates have won six out of six times for WBEV, both writing and singing the seasonal jingles.
