(Columbia County) Cash bond has been set at $7,500 for a Texas man charged with Homicide by Negligent Operation of a Vehicle in Columbia County. The felony charge against Jibreel Aguirre stems from a fatal accident that occurred in the town of Courtland last Friday.
A preliminary investigation showed that the semi Aguirre was reportedly driving failed to stop at a stop sign on Highway G and travelled into the path of a truck travelling on Highway A. This caused the truck to strike the semi’s trailer.
The 21-year-old woman driving the passenger truck was flown to an area hospital where she died of her injuries. Authorities say the driver Aguirre was cooperative with their investigation.
There’s a pre-trial conference in the case on October 28th and the 25-year-old returns to court on November 11th.
