Watertown Woman’s Body Recovered At The Base Of Michigan Waterfall

(Ironwood) A Watertown woman’s body was recovered at the base of a waterfall in Michigan early Tuesday morning. Stephanie Narvaez was located at 4:40am at Rainbow Falls in the Township of Ironwood. The 22-year-old had been missing since Saturday evening when she attempted to cross the Black River, slipped into the water and was carried over the falls. Initial rescue attempts by her hiking companion, 22-year-old Karl Nelson of Milwaukee, were unsuccessful. Gogebic County Sheriff Pete Matonich says early efforts by Michigan State Police Dive Teams were severely hampered by the dangerous currents and treacherous underwater terrain.
