(Beaver Dam) Those that gave the ultimate sacrifice along with current military members and veterans will be honored during the annual Memorial Day Ceremony in Beaver Dam on Monday. The service takes place at Veterans Memorial Park located in Oakwood Cemetery on Highway 33, just east of Highway 151 at 10:15am.
Organizer Curt Gruenewald encourages the public to attend.
“Everybody realizes that showing that respect…showing that we remember our veterans…and not just our [deceased] veterans…but the veterans that are still here with us and their families and the sacrifices that they gave,” says Gruenewald.
The service will include a reading of deceased veterans’ names from this past year. Weather permitting, there will also be a fly over. The Beaver Dam High School and St. Katharine Drexel Marching Bands will be providing music for the Memorial Service.
At the cemetery, some park benches will be available for seating, but Gruenewald recommends bringing lawn chairs and blankets for additional seating.
The program will also be live streamed on Daily Dodge TV. In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Veterans Center located at 300 Beichl Avenue at 10:30am.
