Beaver Dam Man Gets Jail Time For Burglarizing City’s Public Transit Building

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man was sentenced Tuesday to 45 days in jail with work release privileges for burglarizing the Beaver Dam Public Transit building. Charles Daniel entered a no contest plea to a felony count of Burglary, additional misdemeanor charges of Theft of Movable Property and Criminal Damage to Property were dismissed but read into the record. Last August, a worker reported that a window at the South Center Street building had been broken and a door was shattered. According to the criminal complaint, roughly $1,500 was taken. Staff told police that Daniel was one of the last people in the structure before the burglary. Video surveillance captured Daniel unplugging the camera. When questioned, Daniel at first denied the accusations but later admitted to his actions, saying he needed the money. The 50-year-old was also placed on probation for two years.
