BEAVER DAM – A few Beaver Dam firefighters handled a feathered rescue Saturday evening. According to the Beaver Dam Fire Department, crews were dispatched by Dodge County Communications to the 800 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a report of a โchirpingโ storm drain.
When firefighters arrived, they found a mother duck pacing nearby. The department says several of her ducklings had slipped through the grate and ended up inside the storm drain. Firefighter Paramedic Jonathan Rash and Probationary Firefighter EMT Joey Chiuchiolo were able to safely retrieve the ducklings from below. The department says the ducklings were brought back up one by one and reunited with their mother, who stayed nearby during the rescue. With the duck family back together, the department says they waddled off safely. No injuries were reported.
