BEAVER DAM – Beaver Dam’s 250th birthday celebration will include a one-day beer garden after the Common Council approved the local signoff June 15. The beer garden is planned as part of Beaver Dam Celebrates 250, scheduled for 4PM to 8PM Thursday, July 9, at Swan Park.
According to a letter from Mayor Bobbi Marck included in the council packet, the beer garden will be located at the Mill Street shelter. Ooga Brewing will manage beer sales, while food sales will benefit PAVE.
Marck’s letter says Ooga Brewing will donate $1 per pour toward the next phase of park improvements. The mayor also says Ooga will provide professional staff to monitor beer sales and provide needed signage.
During the council discussion, Marck said city officials initially thought council approval might not be needed because Ooga’s liquor license is with the state. She says the state requires the local governing body to approve the event.
Marck also told the council the beer garden is not being proposed as a regular program at this time. She says the request is tied specifically to the July 9 celebration.
The broader Beaver Dam Celebrates 250 event is expected to include outdoor games, crafts, lawn games, a DJ, police and fire department displays, face painting, historic tours, a 6PM program at the bandshell and free cake.
