(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam Fire Chief Alan Mannel Monday night provided the city council with an update on the response to the incident at Didion Milling over the weekend. A contract worker fell around 30 feet from a catwalk onto metal grates in a corn dryer. Cambria Fire requested Beaver Dam’s specialized equipment and personnel who he notes are trained in various aspects of technical rescue. Mannel says the situation was complicated by high angles and confined spaces. The worker sustained significant injuries but was conscious during transport, first to Cambria High School then on to UW Madison.
