Beaver Dam Elks Club Basket Program Set To Return For Its 69th Year

(Beaver Dam) A holiday event that feeds Dodge County families in need is back for another year, with pandemic precautions in place. The Beaver Dam Elks Lodge is holding its 69th Annual Christmas Basket Program Thursday. Elks members are once setting up shop at Summit Ford Beaver Dam, off North Spring Street, packaging food products wearing personal protective gear. During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment program, Coordinator Rob Radig said the group needs volunteers to help distribute the food. Radig says the program typically serves 500 families and 2,500 individuals each year, though the number of families participating this year is down to around 400. Each box is filled with a variety of holiday meal essentials including chicken, bread, eggs, stuffing, gravy, canned vegetables, jello, cookies, candies and even handknitted hats. Members of the public interested in delivering a food basket in the city of Beaver Dam should go to Summit Ford on North Spring Street in Beaver Dam tomorrow (Thursday) between 9am and 10:30am. Drivers are asked this year to stay in their cars.
