(Beaver Dam) There is a new Beaver Dam Common Council president. The vacancy was created when former council president Mike Wissel was appointed as interim mayor following the departure of Becky Glewen earlier this month. Two alderpersons were nominated to serve as president: Ward 2 Alderwoman Bobbi Mark and Ward 7 Alderman Jack Yuds.
Following a secret ballot, Mark finished with seven votes while Yuds had five. City Administrator Nathan Thiel explains why a ballot vote was held.
โBecause itโs exclusive to this body and itโs not a public office,โ says Thiel. โYou can do a ballot. Just so thereโs clarification because I think there may be confusion in the future.โ
Mike Wissel also thanked the council for their participation in the election. Mark will fill the remainder of the council president term that runs through the end of March. Following the April election, a new vote will be held to determine who the council president will be.
