Beaver Dam Council Approves Multi-Use Path Eval And Cost Analysis

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council approved a professional service agreement with MSA for a multi-use path evaluation and cost analysis. The idea was born out of the Hometown Plan Committee, which identified expansion of multi-use trails as a priority. The cityโ€™s Director of Engineering Todd Janssen explains what this initiative aims to achieve.

โ€œThis is a really high-level look at multi-use pathsโ€ฆand looking at a pedestrian crossing over [Highway 151]โ€ฆit aligns with some of the goals that Operations has discussed in the past,โ€ says Janssen. โ€œBut looking at some sort of pedestrian-way up in the Corporate Drive, Frances Lane area for the YMCA and the new residential developments up in that area. Itโ€™ll also be looking at future Gold Star Trail connection and also just expansion of trails city-wide.โ€

The city has committed $50,000 in American Rescue Plan Act dollars towards projects outlined in the Hometown Plan. Janssen notes that the multi-use path evaluation and cost analysis will utilize approximately $15,000.
