Beaver Dam Common Council Approves Two Land Purchases

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council approved two land purchases at Monday nights meeting. The council approved a Commercial Offer to Purchase of the former Evoqua building for $1.75-million dollars. The 89-thousand square foot structure located at the end of Commercial Drive in the Lakeside Business Park would be used as the city’s new Department of Public Works. The building and land purchase is being purchased with funds on hand while borrowing later for the entire $10.2 million dollars and replenishing the city coffers. Taxpayers will pay $60-per year for every one-hundred thousand dollars in property value. The city council also approved the purchase of nearly 44 acres of land on South Center Road for a new compost site. The cost is $295-thousand dollars. The land is located in the township and annexation is anticipated.
