Demerit Points Assessed Against Two Beaver Dam Bars

(Beaver Dam) Demerit points are being assessed against two Beaver Dam bars for serving alcohol to underage patrons. Under the city’s Demerit Point Ordinance for license holders, businesses that violate the law could see their licenses suspended or revoked. Charlie Browns on North Spring Street and Toppers Tap on South Center Street are accused of violating the ordinance in December. Both businesses were issued 300 points. Police Chief John Kreuziger told the city’s administrative committee Monday night that the owners and license holders were very cooperative, and he is recommending that each business only be assessed 150 points each by the committee. That is not enough to trigger a license hearing but if either business gets into trouble in the next year, they could face more severe penalties. Each bartender was issued $250 citations along with the underage patron.
