(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce recommends several tips to improve employee retention efforts.
Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tracy Propst says setting expectations from the beginning is crucial.
“They always say it’s easier to retain than it is to recruit a new one, so putting as much effort as you can to keep that employee is going to be the best. They say don’t skimp on onboarding and orientation. Taking that time for them to really understand the expectations and then taking the time with the employee in general is important because they’re going to feel like they’re valued.”
Other successful employer strategies include, mentorship programs, compensation/benefits, perks, wellness offering, communication, continuous feedback, training and development, recognition and rewards, work-life balance, flex work, emphasis on team work, and not skimping on onboarding/orientation.
