BDUSD Officials Credit Cooperative Effort In Response To Possible Threat

(Beaver Dam) Officials with the Beaver Dam School District say the safety of all students and staff is a cooperative effort. Overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, a possible threat made against the high school was reported to law enforcement. Through cooperation between the district and local police, the comments made were deemed not credible.

Superintendent Mark DiStefano says that this message is a grounding reminder that safety is and must be their number one priority.

โ€œMaking sure that folks know that if they need to talk to somebody they can always to talk to somebody and know that we do have a great partnership with the Department of Justice using their Speak Up, Speak Out reporting system,โ€ says DiStefano. โ€œSo if anybody has a concern and they donโ€™t necessarily feel comfortable reporting it directly to a particular individual they can also use that system which is available to all of our students in the community.โ€

In message to district parents DiStefano wrote that any comments, threats or perceived threats will be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly and where applicable, significant and harsh discipline will be leveraged.
