(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department says they are looking into reports of a candy bar that was possibly tampered with over Halloween. Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson says, โI donโt want to make a big deal out of itโฆI donโt want to necessarily panic the publicโฆbut there was a report of a sewing needleโฆand itโs very important I think to emphasize sewing needle not like a hypodermic needleโฆbut a sewing needle in a melted Hersheyโs Almond Chocolate Bar.โ
โAnd we are looking into thatโฆweโre going to see what we can figure out with that. There are no other reports, this is completely isolated.โ
The needle was embedded but visible and Johnson says it was spotted before any child got a hold of it. He adds that he is not very concerned about the incident but notes that law enforcement is looking into it.
โCould be a prank, could be something serious, could be a mystery that we need to look into,โ says Johnson. โBut kind of one of those things thatโs a little shocking.โ
Johnson says there are currently no leads but they do have the candy bar in their possession and are investigating locally to determine exactly what happened.
