BDPD Looking Into Tampered Candy Bar Incident

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department says they are looking into reports of a candy bar that was possibly tampered with over Halloween. Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson says, “I don’t want to make a big deal out of it…I don’t want to necessarily panic the public…but there was a report of a sewing needle…and it’s very important I think to emphasize sewing needle not like a hypodermic needle…but a sewing needle in a melted Hershey’s Almond Chocolate Bar.”

“And we are looking into that…we’re going to see what we can figure out with that. There are no other reports, this is completely isolated.”

The needle was embedded but visible and Johnson says it was spotted before any child got a hold of it. He adds that he is not very concerned about the incident but notes that law enforcement is looking into it.

“Could be a prank, could be something serious, could be a mystery that we need to look into,” says Johnson. “But kind of one of those things that’s a little shocking.”

Johnson says there are currently no leads but they do have the candy bar in their possession and are investigating locally to determine exactly what happened.
