(Beaver Dam) On Monday, January 1st, 2024, at approximately 8:32PM, officers were dispatched to Fletcher Rd near E Burnett St for the report of a traffic crash involving a train. The initial investigation determined a motor vehicle failed to
stop at a marked railroad crossing, causing a collision with a moving train. The driver of the vehicle, a juvenile,
was transported to the local hospital for non-serious injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
Due to the collision, and the train containing hazardous materials, the train operator stopped the train immediately.
The train came to a stop blocking all lanes US Highway 151, and traffic was diverted for approximately 1 hour.
After a safety inspection was conducted by railroad employees, the train was able to move away from the scene.
No hazardous materials were released, and there is no threat to the public.
The Beaver Dam Police Department was assisted by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the Beaver Dam
Auxiliary Police Department, the Dodge County Emergency Response Team (DCERT) and the Beaver Dam Fire
Department.
